20/03/2006 Sustainable Development Final Meeting of the INTEGRATING-ACC Project The INTEGRATING-ACC project (Integrating the Associated Candidate Countries into the 6th Framework Programme through networking activities and improved NCP services), comes to an end in March 2006. The project which was financed under the EU 6th Framework Programme (INCO), brought together National Contact Points from 22 countries to establish best work practices to lead to a better integration of the ACC scientific community into the European Research Area using the instruments available in FP6. The activities focused on the Thematic Priority 6: ‘Sustainable development, Global change and Ecosystems’. For this purpose an informal meeting will take place in Brussels on Monday 20th March 2006 to present the final results of the project highlighting two major tasks namely, ‘The NCP Benchmarking Exercise’ and ‘Networking for Integration’. 27/06/2006 Sustainable Development International Symposium on the Genetics of Industrial Micro-organisms(GIM) The 10th International Symposium on the Genetics of Industrial Microorganisms(GIM) will be held in Prague, Czech Republic on 24-28 June 2006. The scientific programme will cover: - Genetics and physiology of microorganisms - Natural compounds - Applications and methods. Within the Symposium a Technological brokerage event will be organised on 27 June 2006. It will be an excellent opportunity to meet innovative companies and research organisations active in the field of research and use of industrial microorganisms. 18/09/2006 Sustainable Development 11th International Conference - EURO-ECO 2006 The AGH-UST will hold the 11th International Conference on interdisciplinary co-operation of scholars and decision makers for sustainable development of historical cities and protected areas, focussing on sound tourism(eco-tourism), education and joint projects in Krakow, Poland. The Conference will refer to recent recommendations of the UN,UNESCO and European Union, referring to the promotion of sustainable development on regional and global scale. The forthcoming conference is open not only to scientists and teachers, but also to administrative units and local self-governments and enterprises. POLAND
16/10/2006 Sustainable Development International Scientific Conference 'The Abiotic Environment - Evaluation of Changes and Hazards' The Polish Geological Institute, Centre of Excellence, will be organising an International Scientific Conference on 'Abiotic Environment - Evaluation of Changes and Hazards' between 16 - 17 October 2006. The main topics to be discussed are: Water management and resources; Marine abiotic environment and resources; Natural hazards; Human induced environmental hazards; Present and past environmental changes; Preparations for FP7. 25/06/2007 Sustainable Development International Conference: 'Environmental Protection into the Future - EPF 2007' The Czestochowa University of Technology, Institute of Environmental Engineering, Czestochowa, Poland, will be organising an International Conference on 'Environmental Protection into the Future - EPF 2007, in June 25 -27, 2007. Main topics for discussion: Energy, renewable energy sources, power generation, clean cool; Wastewater management, sewage sludge and waste utilization; Environmental engineering - new approaches; Micro-pollutants in human environment; Economics and policy; Education.
